1. Hardness test
The hardness of a material usually has a certain correlation with its wear resistance. Hardness test methods such as Brinell hardness, Rockwell hardness or Vickers hardness test can be used. Materials with higher hardness tend to have better wear resistance.
For example, the hardness value of a material is measured by a Rockwell hardness tester. The higher the hardness value, the better the wear resistance may be.
2. Wear test
Specialized wear tests are carried out under laboratory conditions. Common ones include pin-disc wear test and reciprocating wear test.
Set a certain load, speed and wear time to compare the wear amount of different materials under the same conditions. The smaller the wear amount, the stronger the wear resistance.
3. Reference material standards and technical data
Check the technical specifications and standard data provided by the material supplier to understand the wear resistance performance indicators of the material.
For example, the technical manual of some alloy steels will clearly give the relevant parameters of its wear resistance.
4. Actual use experience and cases
Understand the actual application effect of the material in similar welding platforms or other wear conditions.
Consult the use experience of other users or industry experts.
5. Microstructure analysis
The microstructure of the material, such as grain size, phase distribution, etc., is observed through a microscope. A uniform and fine structure is usually conducive to improving wear resistance.
6. Chemical composition analysis
The content of certain elements affects the wear resistance of the material. For example, steel with a higher content of elements such as carbon and chromium usually has better wear resistance.
