120Ton & 150Ton Welding Rotator for Wind Power Industry Application Case


Project Background
This is a real and official customer project completed by our company in 2025. The customer is a professional manufacturer engaged in the production and processing of onshore and offshore wind power tower cylinders, wind power foundation barrels, and large-diameter wind power structural parts.
With the continuous expansion of local wind power project construction, the customer faced urgent production upgrading demands: the original small-capacity welding equipment could not meet the rotary welding and assembly requirements of new-generation thick-wall, super-large-diameter wind tower workpieces. Therefore, the customer purchased sets of 120-ton and 150-ton self-aligning welding rotators from our factory for batch production of wind power towers.
Original Equipment Problems & Pain Points
The customer's original small-tonnage welding rotators were incapable of meeting the production demands of large, thick-walled wind power towers, bringing multiple production and quality issues:
Limited load capacity: Cannot support 80–140 tons heavy wind tower workpieces, causing unstable bearing and structural deformation.
Unstable operation: No self-aligning function leads to workpiece deviation and jitter, resulting in poor weld quality and high rework rate.
Unmatched welding precision: Unstable low-speed operation fails to match automatic submerged arc welding, causing inconsistent welds.
Low production efficiency: Frequent failures under long-term heavy load require frequent maintenance, delaying production delivery.
Poor adaptability: Not suitable for tapered wind tower structures, failing to meet strict wind power manufacturing standards.
Equipment Configuration Delivered
According to the customer's wind power production characteristics, we provided heavy-duty self-aligning welding rotators customized for wind tower working conditions:
120 Ton Welding Rotator: Mainly used for conventional onshore wind tower rotary welding and assembly
150 Ton Welding Rotator: Used for super-heavy thick-wall tower barrels and offshore wind power structural parts
Core configuration: Frequency conversion stepless speed regulation, synchronous dual-motor drive, high-load anti-slip polyurethane rollers, full self-aligning function, overload protection and emergency stop safety system, fully adapting to 24-hour continuous batch production in wind power workshops.
On-site Application Effect
After the equipment was put into operation, it completely solved the problems of unstable rotation, easy axial deviation and low welding efficiency existing in the customer's original equipment.
The rotator runs stably at low speed, the tower body rotates synchronously without jitter, and the weld forming is uniform and smooth
The self-aligning design automatically adapts to the slight taper of conical wind towers, effectively avoiding workpiece deviation and dislocation
Cooperated with automatic welding manipulators to realize full-automatic circumferential welding, greatly reducing manual intervention
The one-time welding qualification rate of wind tower circumferential seams is significantly improved, and the rework rate is greatly reduced
