1. Immediate Cleaning After Operation: After each welding operation, use a copper brush or a dedicated hole-cleaning tool to remove welding slag, spatter, and metal debris from the workbench and T-slots to prevent residues from affecting subsequent positioning accuracy.
2. Treatment of Stubborn Stains: For firmly adhered slag or oil stains, use a dedicated cleaning agent for wiping. However, avoid using strong corrosive solvents to prevent damage to the surface treatment layer.
3. Do Not Wash with Water: Never rinse the workbench directly with water. Moisture easily seeps into holes and crevices, accelerating oxidation and corrosion, especially damaging to cast iron materials.
4. Anti-Spatting Measures: It is recommended to spray anti-spatting liquid before use, which can effectively reduce welding slag adhesion and significantly reduce the difficulty and frequency of cleaning.
✅ After cleaning, be sure to thoroughly dry the workbench with a dry cloth to ensure no residual moisture remains.
II. Rust Prevention Treatment: Multi-layered Protection to Cope with Humidity Challenges
1. Daily Rust Prevention Operations
After each use, apply a thin, even layer of rust-preventive oil to the surface of the work surface and perforations to form a protective film, preventing air from contacting the metal.
For long-term non-use, cover with a dust cloth or special cover after applying rust-preventive oil to further isolate moisture and dust.
For large platforms over 4 meters, ensure that edges and support areas are also adequately protected.
2. Enhanced Environmental Adaptability
If the ambient humidity consistently exceeds 70%, it is recommended to add dehumidification equipment and prioritize corrosion-resistant platforms with surface modification treatments, such as blackening, chrome plating, or nitriding.
Blackening Treatment: Suitable for small steel platforms, forming a dense oxide film with a pure black appearance, combining aesthetics and rust prevention.
Chrome Plating Treatment: Silver-white surface with excellent rust prevention performance, but only suitable for steel parts.
Nitriding Treatment: Suitable for various platform sizes, improving surface hardness and corrosion resistance; cast iron parts turn bluish-gray after nitriding.
3. Regular Inspection and Repair Regularly inspect the countertop for rust spots, discoloration, or coating peeling. Minor rust can be sanded with fine sandpaper and then reapplied with rust-preventive oil.
Severe rust or pitting corrosion should be reported and repaired promptly to avoid affecting the overall structural stability.
🔍 Special Reminder: It is recommended to use either a displacement-type or a hard-film type of rust-preventive oil. The former can remove sweat and moisture from the metal surface, while the latter can form a protective film with higher mechanical strength.
