Welding Tables & Benches | D28 Modular System | Heavy-Duty Steel
The Backbone of Every Professional Welding Shop – Rigid, Precise, and Reconfigurable
What are D28 Steel Welding Tables and Benches?
D28 steel welding tables and benches are precision-engineered workstations featuring a heavy-duty steel tabletop with a grid of Φ28mm holes spaced 100mm apart (the European D28 standard). This hole pattern, combined with a complete ecosystem of modular clamps, pins, and stops, allows you to build custom fixtures for any workpiece – without welding, cutting, or drilling dedicated jigs.
Unlike cast iron tables, steel construction offers higher tensile strength, excellent weldability (you can weld directly on the table if needed), and a more economical price point. These benches are designed for daily shop floor use, from quick one-off repairs to high-volume production runs.
A complete welding bench typically includes:
Precision-ground steel tabletop with D28 holes
Heavy-duty underframe (fixed legs, adjustable feet, or wheels)
Optional accessories: Drawers, tool racks, side trays

Key Advantages

D28 Modular Hole System – Industry Standard
Φ28mm precision holes on a 100mm x 100mm grid.
Fully compatible with thousands of off-the-shelf D28 accessories (locking pins, angle brackets, V-blocks, horizontal clamps, stops).
Quick changeover: Build a fixture in minutes, weld, dismantle, and build the next one.
Heavy-Duty Steel Construction
Material: High-strength structural steel (Q235 / Q355 / S355 equivalent).
Tabletop thickness: Typically 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, or 25mm depending on load requirements.
Tensile strength: Far exceeds cast iron – ideal for impact loads and heavy parts.
Weldable: You can weld sacrificial fixtures or stops directly onto the surface (unlike cast iron).

Products Application
D28 steel welding tables are the most versatile workbenches in any fabrication environment. They are ideal for:
General Fabrication Shops:Frames, brackets, guards, platforms – anything that needs fixturing
Automotive & Motorsports:Roll cages, exhaust systems, chassis components, suspension arms
Heavy Equipment & Agriculture:Loader buckets, implement frames, tractor attachments, truck bodies
Maintenance & Repair (MRO):One-off fixtures for odd-shaped broken parts
Structural Steel Fabrication:Beams, columns, handrails, ladders
Pipe & Tube Welding:Handrails, cages, hydraulic lines (using V-blocks)
Prototype & R&D:Frequent design changes – rebuild fixtures instantly
Training & Vocational Schools:Teaches modular fixturing concepts

FAQ
tIPS FOR REFERENCE
Answering the following questions can roughly help you understand our products.
Q:1.How flat is the table? Will it stay flat over time?
A:Standard flatness is ≤ ±0.1 mm per meter. Premium tables achieve ≤ ±0.05 mm per meter. With proper use (no direct flame cutting, no sledgehammer impacts), a quality steel table will stay flat for many years. If it wears, you can have it surface-ground to restore original flatness.
Q:2.Can I weld directly on the steel table surface?
A:
Yes. Unlike cast iron, steel can be welded on directly. However:
Welding will leave marks and small craters on the surface.
Avoid welding directly over the D28 holes (spatter can enter the holes).
For heavy welding, use a small sacrificial steel plate on top of the table.
Always clean spatter immediately after welding.
Q:3.How do I prevent rust on a steel welding table?
A:
Steel will rust if left wet. Here is how to protect your table:
Daily: Wipe down with a dry rag after use.
Weekly: Apply a light coat of WD-40, machine oil, or anti-rust spray.
Storage: Keep the table indoors. Use a cover if stored outside.
Optional: Order a painted or plated surface (reduces rust but may affect flatness slightly).
Q:4.Do I need special tools to use the D28 system?
A: No. Most D28 accessories require no tools at all. Quick-release locking pins push in and lock with a quarter-turn. Clamps tighten with a simple hex key or hand knob. You can build a complete fixture in minutes with your bare hands.
Q:5.How do I clean D28 holes that are filled with spatter or debris?
A:
Use one of these methods:
Compressed air – quickest for loose debris.
D28 hole brush – a round wire brush on a handle (we sell these).
Drill with a 27.5mm twist bit – for heavy spatter (use low speed, lubricate).
Prevention is best: Use hole plugs or anti-spatter spray before welding.
Q:6.What is the lead time?
A:Standard 25mm thickness usually 5-10 days. Custom thickness or special hole patterns require 15-20 days.
