Structural Steel Fabrication Table

Suppose we need to assemble a welded H-beam (composed of two flange plates and one web plate welded together):

1.Preparation: Clean the surface of the workbench and ensure it is level.

2.Positioning:

Place the lower flange plate flat on the workbench.

Use positioning stoppers and pins to quickly determine the position of the web plate, and place it vertically on the lower flange plate.

Cover with the upper flange plate.

3.Clamping:

Use multiple C-clamps or special fixtures to tightly press the flange plates and the web plate together from the vertical direction to eliminate gaps.

Use strong clamps to clamp from the side to ensure the web plate and flange plates remain at a 90-degree vertical angle.

4.Tack welding: Perform tack welding at key positions to initially fix the entire assembly.

5.Welding: Loosen some fixtures, and carry out the complete welding operation in accordance with the welding process requirements (usually first weld the weld on one side, then flip the entire workpiece and weld the other side).

6.Inspection and loosening: After welding is completed and the workpiece has cooled, loosen all fixtures, remove the finished product, and conduct dimensional inspection.
